CRLG Lace Days
Spring Lace Days
CRLG Lace Days are held on the 4th Saturday of April (spring) in Virginia and the 4th Saturday in October (fall) in Maryland. They are free to non-members and open to the general public who are interested in learning about lacemaking, lace identification, or other fiber-related arts. The day usually starts with a short business meeting, and this is followed by a guest speaker, mini-workshops led by CRLG members, and shopping for supplies and those hard-to-find books!
More Information about 2022 Fall Lace Days Coming Soon.
"Try me" lace pillows and tatting shuttles are available for those who want to try their hand at lacemaking. The Guild has starter kits (includes a cookie pillow, bobbins, pins, and thread) that can be rented for six months for $50. If you decide to purchase the kit, your deposit will be applied to the cost. Who knows, you just might find that making lace isn't nearly as complicated as you thought!
Looking for Lacemaking Supplies?
Spring and Fall Lace Days include our favorite vendor, Holly Van Sciver. Holly is a lace maker and teacher herself and is so knowledgeable about lace making supplies; she can help you find exactly what you need. While you can order supplies from her anytime online, she joins us in person twice a year from Ithaca, New York, to help our members and guests choose just the right tools and materials to create their next family heirloom. She can also help you find books and patterns even if you don’t see them listed or displayed.
Thank you, Holly, for making tatting and bobbin lace supplies easily available to us.
Holly's website is http://www.vansciverbobbinlace.com.
